DR. CHARLES C. WARFIELD YOUTH COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

The Dr. Charles C. Warfield Youth Community Service Award was created to celebrate the success of Black youth who are involved in community service throughout Kalamazoo County. The late Dr. Warfield was a quintessential leader and community activist and served as president of the Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch NAACP and Education Committee chair for the NAACP Michigan State Conference for eight years. He was active in many organizations and participated in a cadre of activities. His legacy will continue to resonate in our organization and throughout our community.

This prestigious award will acknowledge the fine efforts of a local Black high school senior who embraces the spirit of diversity, while being energetically and enthusiastically engaged in community service, community projects, and other community-based activities. The Kalamazoo Branch will bestow a $500 award along with a one-year NAACP youth membership to the recipient of the award.

Nominee Requirements

To be considered as a candidate for the Metropolitan Kalamazoo Branch NAACP
Dr. Charles C. Warfield Youth Community Service Award, the nominee must be a Black
high school senior and live in Kalamazoo County. The nominee should also:

Be actively enrolled in an accredited school in Kalamazoo County.
Be actively engaged in community service efforts, inspiring positive and enduring change in Kalamazoo County.
Provide the contact information for three references who can attest to their character and contributions to Kalamazoo
County. These references can be teachers, mentors, counselors, religious leaders, community members, peers, etc.
